Data Scientist for Earth Observation Video Analytics (01.2026)
The expected tasks of this position will consist of scientific research on the topic of artificial intelligence for spaceborne videos. The main research goal is to develop innovative supervised or self-supervised learning methods for detecting and tracking small targets in spaceborne videos, taken into account the different quality, imaging condition and data modality of spaceborne videos. The capability of the model shall also be demonstrated in a few use cases. The holder of the position will be responsible for the following tasks:
– Literature research
– Preparing video datasets for the training of machine learning model
– Develop innovative supervised or self-supervised learning methods for small target detection and tracking
– Evaluate the machine learning model on downstream tasks
– Project reporting and meeting

Your qualifications:
– completed academic university degree (university diploma / M.Sc.) in computer science, geo-informatics, data science, or comparable subject
– experience in machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI) or related fields
– strong software skills in ML languages such as python
– ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies quickly
– ability to work highly motivated both independently and in a team
– very good written and spoken English knowledge
– knowledge of ML algorithms for video data is an advantage
